Covington Recognized at the 2022 Deal Awards

WASHINGTON—Covington was recognized at The Deal's annual "Deal Awards" for "Most Outstanding Deal of the Year" in both the large capital and middle market categories and Catherine Dargan was honored as "Pharmaceutical & Biotechnology Dealmaker of the Year."

Covington's role as lead global regulatory counsel on Discovery's acquisition of Warner Media from AT&T was recognized in the category of "Most Outstanding Deal of the Year." The team was led by Derek Ludwin and Johan Ysewyn and included Anne Lee, Matt DelNero, Kavita Pillai, Stacy Kobrick, Jachele Vélez, Meaghan Ryan, Sahel Sra, Jackie Fitch, James Marshall, Sophie Albrighton, Melissa Van Schoorisse, Laura Van Kruijsdijk, and Rolf Ali (Competition/Antitrust), Horst Henschen and Kat Kingsbury (FDI), and Josh Gray and Rose Laget (Broadcast Licensing).

Covington was also honored in the category of "Most Outstanding Deal of the Year-Middle Market" for its representation of Elanco in its $440 million acquisition of Kindred Biosciences. Elanco was represented by Drew Fischer, Catherine Dargan, Mike Riella, Susie Toumanian, and Adam Osielski (M&A), Alicia Zhang (securities), Robert Newman and Megan Woodford, (employee benefits), Ansgar Simon (tax), Heather Haberl (real estate), and Melody Wu and Marie Lavalleye (IP and IT).

Catherine was recognized for the third year in a row as "Pharmaceutical & Biotechnology Dealmaker of the Year." Catherine leads the firm’s Corporate and Mergers & Acquisitions practices, and has advised numerous companies on their important strategic transactions for more than 20 years.
