Melody Wu leads the firm’s practice in patent portfolio counseling. She advises on patent lifecycle planning, filing and claiming strategy, correction of patent issues before and after grant, policy issues affecting the patent system, and options and best practices for intellectual property protection. Ms. Wu directs the strategy for the worldwide patent portfolios covering several major pharmaceutical products and candidates. She acts as a special consultant regarding patent and patent office issues in contexts such as pre-litigation case assessment, due diligence for transactions, inter partes review, and patent litigation. Ms. Wu holds degrees from Harvard University and the Duke University School of Law and has experience with technical subject matter including biofuels, vaccines, speech synthesis, cognitive training software, gene expression, fusion proteins, hypersonic engines, and RF shielding.

  • Advice on patent strategy in coordination with regulatory strategy for pharmaceutical products in Europe, Japan, Australia, China, Canada, Brazil, India, Korea, Mexico, and Eurasia.
  • Development of an intellectual property policy and manual for a multinational corporation.
