PALO ALTO—Covington advised South Korea-based SK Holdings in its $100 million investment in Kinestral Technologies, Inc. The Series D funding round was led by SK Holdings and included existing Kinestral investors like 5AM Ventures, Alexandria Real Estate, Capricorn Investment Group, and Versant Ventures. 

Headquartered in the San Francisco Bay Area, Kinestral Technologies develops technologies that transform glass into responsive, intelligent, and beautiful architectural elements.

SK Holdings executes long-term investments with a number of competitive subsidiaries in various business areas, including pharmaceuticals and life science, energy and chemicals, information and telecommunication, and semiconductors.

The Covington team was led by Catharina Min, Nancy Chu, Michelle Stewart, and Stephanie Choo (corporate), Kathleen Gallagher-Duff, David Wildman, Brandon Palmen, and Grant Johnson (intellectual property), Ron Hewitt (secured transactions), David Fagan, Mark Plotkin, Peter Flanagan, Ingrid Price, and Blake Hulnick (CFIUS/export controls), and James O'Connell, Peter Camesasca, and Laurie-Anne Grelier (antitrust).
