  • Covington Advises CenturyLink in 34 Billion Acquisition of Level 3 Communications

WASHINGTON—Covington represented CenturyLink in its acquisition of Level 3 Communications in a cash and stock transaction valued at approximately $34 billion. The acquisition closed today.

The firm assisted Century Link in obtaining regulatory approvals by the Federal Communications Commission and state public utilities regulators, and in national security (including Team Telecom review) and antitrust matters related to the transaction.

The Covington team was led by Yaron Dori and included Matt DelNero, Michael Beder, Brandon Johnson, and Ani Gevorkian (telecommunications regulatory); David Fagan, Heather Finstuen, Jonathan Wakely, and Ingrid Price (national security); and Deborah Garza, Anne Lee, Ashley Bass, Andrew Lazerow, C. William Phillips, Kavita Pillai, and Gabriel Fulmer (antitrust).
