Covington received a "Shout Out" from AmLaw Litigation Daily for its work that turned back a San Diego taxpayer’s lawsuit challenging the relocation of the Chargers’ National Football League franchise to Los Angeles. According to the "Shout Out," "San Diego County Superior Court Judge Carolyn Caietti found the plaintiff lacked standing since San Diego decided not to assert legal claims related to the move, that the city had waived the claims at issue in its lease agreements with the team anyway, and the suit was time-barred since the team announced its relocation in January 2017, five years before the complaint was filed." The Covington team that represented the NFL and all teams aside from the Chargers included partners Neema Sahni and John Hall and associate Robert Gianchetti.
