The new partners, who are based in Dubai, London, Boston, San Francisco, New York, and Washington, are:
Ryan Buschell (San Francisco): Ryan represents a wide range of companies in high-stakes insurance coverage litigation and arbitration. He exclusively represents policyholders in insurance coverage disputes and has recovered hundreds of millions of dollars from insurers for his clients—on summary judgment, at trial, and through arbitration. Ryan earned his B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley and his J.D. from Harvard Law School.
Haykel Hajjaji (Dubai): Haykel focuses on cross-border corporate and commercial transactions. He advises clients across a broad range of industries, including Infrastructure, Technology, Life Sciences, Logistics and Defense & Aerospace. Haykel has particular experience in inbound and outbound M&A transactions, joint ventures, market entry, doing-business and corporate reorganizations in the MENA region.
Brian Harris (New York): Brian’s practice focuses on transactional tax matters including representing private equity firms and their portfolio companies on mergers, acquisitions and dispositions across industries. He also advises companies on initial public offerings, debt and equity issuances, and cross-border financings. Brian earned his B.S. from Rutgers, his J.D. from New York University School of Law, and his LL.M. from New York University.
Julienne Hearn (Boston): Julienne advises clients in the life sciences industry on their key strategic transactions. Her practice includes structuring, negotiating and documenting a broad array of agreements, including complex collaborations, licenses, R&D collaborations, co-promotion and co-commercialization agreements, supply and distribution arrangements and other commercial agreements. Julienne received her B.M. from the Eastman School of Music and her J.D. from Harvard Law School.
Jessica Hill (Washington): Jessica focuses her practice on Section 337 proceedings before the U.S. International Trade Commission. She has litigated more than 35 such investigations and is the president-elect of the Executive Committee of the ITC Trial Lawyers Association, the leading bar association for Section 337 practitioners. Jessica earned her B.A. from the University of Virginia and her J.D. from the University of Georgia School of Law.
Brent Little (Washington): Brent is a corporate lawyer who helps clients structure and negotiate finance transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and other strategic transactions. He advises sports teams, owners and leagues on team acquisitions and team and stadium financings. He also advises lenders and corporate borrowers in a wide range of finance transactions in a number of industries, including life sciences, healthcare, sports, technology, consumer products, and manufacturing. Brent earned his B.S. from Brigham Young University and his J.D. from Brigham Young University, J. Reuben Clark Law School.
Antonio Michaelides (London / Dubai): Antonio advises clients in heavily regulated sectors on a broad range of HR regulatory and compliance issues and is frequently called upon by clients to advise on navigating international HR-legal compliance issues—including labor laws, international equity compliance and immigration matters—and find solutions to their most complex global employment and benefits challenges. His practice is global and often involves a cross-border element, with a particular focus on Europe and the Middle East. Antonio has extensive experience with government affairs and regulatory matters in the Middle East, where his practice is much broader, and often involves advising government entities, as well as private companies, on a variety of regulatory infrastructure and compliance issues.
Andrew Nightingale (New York): Andrew represents clients in the sports industry, including leagues, teams and owners, in a wide variety of corporate matters, including team ownership transfers, private equity investments and related transactions, joint ventures and league governance. He regularly represents major U.S. sports leagues (including the NFL, NBA, and NHL) in significant transactional and governance matters. Andrew earned his B.A. from Princeton University and his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law.
Daniel Randolph (Washington): Daniel focuses on appellate and complex regulatory litigation, and has a particular expertise in government-facing litigation under the Administrative Procedure Act. He has successfully argued a range of appeals, and has skillfully briefed dozens of matters in a range of district and appellate courts, including merits and amicus briefing before the U.S. Supreme Court. He has litigated against a broad array of federal agencies, including the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the Food and Drug Administration, the Department of Health and Human Services, and the Patent and Trademark Office.
Lauren Ross (Washington): Lauren advises clients, including multinationals and professional sports organizations, on transfer pricing issues and in tax controversy matters. Lauren represents clients in securing Advance Pricing Agreements and Mutual Agreement Procedures, and in administrative controversy matters in IRS and Appeals. Lauren earned her B.A. from Vanderbilt University and her J.D. from Duke University School of Law. Prior to joining Covington, Lauren clerked for the Honorable Allyson K. Duncan on the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Michael Stern (Washington): Drawing on his experience at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Michael advises pharmaceutical companies on FDA’s regulation of the development of drug and biological products, in addition to the drug pricing provisions of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). Michael is a leading expert on regulatory issues relating to Hatch-Waxman and the Biologics Price Competition and Innovation Act, including exclusivity and FDA-related patent issues. He earned his A.B. from Harvard University and his J.D. from The University of Chicago Law School.
Ashley Winkler (Washington): Ashley is a patent litigator working with emerging and leading companies on intellectual property and appellate issues. She handles all steps of patent litigation cases from inception through trial and on appeal, and has experience with both jury and bench trials. Ashley earned her B.S. in chemistry from Murray State University and her J.D. from the University of Kentucky, J. David Rosenberg College of Law.
Megan Woodford (Washington): Megan represents both public and private companies, as well as individuals, in connection with a broad range of employee compensation and benefits matters. She advises on the design, administration, and implementation of compensation arrangements, including equity incentive plans and executive employment agreements. Megan received her B.S. from Duke University and her J.D. from Harvard Law School.
Phoebe Yu (Washington): Phoebe is a white-collar criminal defense lawyer who focuses on government enforcement matters, internal investigations, and corporate compliance. She has extensive experience representing multinational companies and Boards of Directors in criminal and civil investigations into allegations of fraud, export controls and sanctions violations, corruption and bribery, financial accounting and disclosure irregularities, and other compliance issues. She frequently engages with federal agencies such as the U.S. Department of Justice, the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Department of the Treasury, and the Department of Commerce. In her compliance advisory role, Phoebe helps clients develop and implement global compliance programs, conduct risk assessments, and manage third-party risks. Phoebe holds a B.S. from Cornell University and a J.D. from Harvard Law School.
