Litigator of the Week Runners-Up and Shout-Outs: Covington Secures Federal Circuit Win Upholding AstraZeneca's Patent Victory

A Covington team led by Christopher Sipes, Megan Keane, and Ashley Winkler earned a Litigator of the Week shout-out in AmLaw Litigation Daily for securing an appellate ruling upholding a post-trial win for client AstraZeneca that knocked out a $107.5 million patent infringement verdict for Wyeth.

In 2024, following the verdict, U.S. District Judge Matthew Kennelly in Delaware invalidated two Wyeth patents the company had used to target AstraZeneca's blockbuster lung cancer therapy Tagrisso, finding a lack of written description. Last week, the Federal Circuit upheld that decision in a published opinion.

The Covington team also included Jason Fowler, Einar Stole, and Alexander Trzeciak.
