WASHINGTON, DC — Covington assisted the National Football League in negotiating its partnership with CBS and NBC to produce and televise "Thursday Night Football" for the 2016 and 2017 seasons.
In addition to continuing its Thursday Night Football partnership with CBS, the NFL is adding NBC as a partner, with both networks set to air five Thursday Night Football games. This increases the broadcast package from eight games — the number for 2014 and 2015 — to 10. The NFL Network, which will continue to simulcast the CBS and NBC games, will also exclusively televise an eight-game schedule of regular season games, which will include Thursday Night Football, late-season games on Saturday, and additional offerings.
The Covington team advising on the transaction was led by corporate partner Doug Gibson. Advice was also provided by partner Robyn Polashuk, with associates Michael Hill and Neema Sahni (media and communications), and partner Jeremy Spector, with associate Caitlyn Jacobs (tax).
