Law360 covered Indy Mukerji’s and Steve Marshall’s Covington arrivals in an article, which also included commentary from Gary Rubman and Erica Andersen, co-chairs of Covington’s Patent Litigation Practice Group .
Indy told Law360 that "Covington represents four out of the five biggest tech companies in the world and that's a roster and a sophistication of clients that not many firms have. Combined with the depth, it's very hard, especially in the patent litigation business, to do it without having the depth of people, the depth of trial experience, the depth of technical knowledge. Covington really allows us to springboard off that bigger, better platform."
Indy also spoke about Steve, saying that "the fact that he and I have worked together for so long I think really has created synergies both for our practice but also for our clients.” The duo tried a case for Netflix last fall, Indy said, highlighting a synergy of practices after years of growing their relationship: "I think together his organizational skills, his technical depth, combined with ... my experience, I think, forms a pretty effective team for clients.”
Steve highlighted that "one nice thing that really appealed to me about Covington is the collaboration. It's a function of operating without traditional constraints that you find in terms of doing an origination and really embracing that team culture that says we put our clients first and we're going to work together to get them the best service that we possibly can as a group — that was a real appeal to me."
Gary noted that Indy’s arrival is "an important part of the future" of the firm's practice. He further lauded Indy’s “wealth of experience and deep expertise that will significantly strengthen Covington’s capabilities. As a first-chair patent litigator, he has an impressive reputation for his courtroom skills, creativity, and highly strategic thinking,” Gary said.
Erica said that Steve’s background and many years of experience representing leading technology companies “will significantly benefit our clients.”
