Covington Ranks Second Among All U.S. Law Firms in The American Lawyer’s Pro Bono Scorecard

WASHINGTON—The American Lawyer has ranked Covington second overall in its annual Pro Bono Scorecard, which ranks Am Law 200 firms by the depth and breadth of pro bono engagement by U.S.-based lawyers. Covington was also ranked third in The American Lawyer’s 2025 Pro Bono International Report.

“Covington is focused on the perennial needs of underserved people, helping nonprofits provide services in areas such as criminal defense, legal aid and human rights matters,” said Kelly Voss, Covington’s pro bono counsel and director of the pro bono program.

Maureen Browne, chair of the firm’s pro bono committee, said the core priority in pro bono is to respond to people and nonprofits that are most in need of help.

Covington has demonstrated a strong commitment to public service. The firm is frequently recognized for pro bono service, including 12 times being ranked the number one pro bono practice in the U.S. by The American Lawyer.
