LONDON—Covington has once again ranked first in Law.com International’s UK Pro Bono Rankings, announced in conjunction with the UK’s 25th annual Pro Bono Week. Firms were assessed on their total pro bono hours, hours per lawyer, and overall participation rates.
The firm provides pro bono support to organisations serving vulnerable and underserved communities, including Kids in Need of Defense UK, the Legal Advice Centre, and nonprofits referred through the LawWorks Not-for-Profits Programme. The firm also supports the Schools Consent Project, helping educate young people about sexual consent law, and Amicus ALJ, which works to protect due process and fair-trial rights for individuals facing the death penalty.
Ian Redfearn, Covington’s public service committee vice chair for London, commented: “Pro bono is fundamental to who we are as a firm and has been part of Covington’s DNA for generations. We are proud of the extraordinary commitment our lawyers make to using their skills to advance access to justice and support those most in need. To see that commitment recognised in this way is enormously gratifying.”
The firm also ranked first in Law.com’s International UK Pro Bono Rankings in 2025 and ranked first on Law.com International’s UK A-List 2025. The American Lawyer ranked Covington second in its 2026 Pro Bono Scorecard.
Founded in 1988, Covington’s London office at 22 Bishopsgate is home to over 130 fee-earners.
