Joe is a partner in Covington’s Los Angeles office and chair of the firm’s Restructuring & Bankruptcy practice. A seasoned bankruptcy attorney and creditor rights litigator, he has a diverse practice representing distressed companies, secured and unsecured creditors and insolvency fiduciaries, and pursuing asset recovery, judgment enforcement, and litigation in the insolvency arena. He draws on his significant experience with complex bankruptcy cases, creditor rights and enforcement litigation, out of court workouts, state law insolvency processes, and other work in insolvency scenarios.
One of the country’s leading authorities on partnership tax, Kate is a partner in Covington’s Los Angeles office. With more than 20 years of experience in tax planning, transactional advice, and tax controversy representation, she advises on a wide range of partnership, corporate, and real estate matters, including joint ventures, fund formations, mergers and acquisitions, restructurings, and REIT transactions. Kate is the author of the Bloomberg Tax Management Portfolio on the BBA partnership audit rules, for which she was named Bloomberg BNA Tax Portfolio Author of the Year in 2023, and she serves as Conference co-chair of the Practicing Law Institute’s Understanding the BBA Partnership Audit Rules conference. She is a Fellow of the American College of Tax Counsel.
Abigail is a partner in Covington’s Los Angeles office and vice-chair of the firm’s Restructuring & Bankruptcy practice, with a wide-ranging restructuring and creditor rights litigation practice. She focuses on representing secured and unsecured creditors in insolvency cases and other proceedings nationwide and routinely represents parties in litigation related to insolvency and distressed debt in state and federal court, as well as purchasers and sellers of distressed assets and fiduciaries in bankruptcy cases and other insolvency matters.
