LOS ANGELES/PALO ALTO/SAN FRANCISCO— The Recorder has named Covington a finalist for its Community Advocacy and Impact Initiative award as part of the 2026 California Legal Awards. The California Legal Awards, presented by The Recorder, a premier California legal publication and part of ALM Media, celebrate the lawyers and law firms driving the state’s dynamic legal landscape. Winners will be announced at the California Legal Awards ceremony in June 2026.
Covington’s nomination recognizes two initiatives that reflect the firm’s nationally recognized commitment to pro bono service and externally focused community advocacy: a landmark California Supreme Court challenge addressing the statewide court reporter shortage that threatens access to justice for low-income litigants, and a transformative settlement that enforced transparency and inclusion in public education by halting the implementation of a biased ethnic studies curriculum.
Covington has demonstrated a strong commitment to public service. The firm is frequently recognized for pro bono service, including being ranked 12 times as the number one pro bono practice in the U.S. by The American Lawyer. The firm provided more than 231,000 pro bono hours in 2025.
