  • U. S. Steel and Nippon Steel Corporation Finalize Historic Partnership

WASHINGTON– Covington advised the United States Steel Corporation (“U. S. Steel”) on securing CFIUS approval in its finalized partnership with Nippon Steel Corporation, as announced June 18.

Together Nippon Steel and U. S. Steel form a world-leading steelmaker. The deal protects and creates more than 100,000 jobs and ensures that U. S. Steel will retain its name and headquarters in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. 

The Covington CFIUS team that advised U. S. Steel on the transaction was led by David Fagan, Mark Plotkin, Jonathan Wakely, Sam Karson, and Corinne Cook.
