Laura Flahive Wu is an associate in our Washington office practicing in the areas of commercial litigation and communications and media.  She has significant experience representing clients in complex contractual disputes, cable carriage complaints, and securities litigation.

  • Successfully represented a group of content companies challenging an order of the Federal Communications Commission that would have resulted in the release of their confidential trade secrets to third parties. The D.C. Circuit first agreed to stay enforcement of the FCC’s order, and then overturned the order on both substantive and procedural grounds.
  • Representation of a major energy company in a securities action arising from allegations that the Company overstated the expected returns from its gas wells.
  • Representation of Cox Media Group LLC in contractual indemnification action arising from allegations that the Company misrepresented expenditures for a television asset.
  • Representation of Forest Laboratories, Inc. in shareholder class action litigation arising out of its $1.3 billion acquisition of Clinical Data, Inc.
  • Representation of Del Monte Corporation in shareholder class action litigation arising out of the company’s $5.3 billion acquisition by private equity firms.
  • Representation of SandRidge Energy, Inc. in nine putative shareholder class action lawsuits seeking to enjoin SandRidge’s $1.6 billion acquisition of Arena Resources, Inc.
  • Representation of a hedge fund in a compensation dispute with a former employee.
  • Representation of a luxury real estate marketing company in a lending dispute with a hedge fund investor.
  • Representation of a major record company in contractual disputes with artist over royalties on new forms of music distribution.
  • Representation of multiple MVPDs in connection with possible arbitrations to determine the terms and conditions for the carriage of Comcast-NBCUniversal video programming pursuant to the Comcast-NBCUniversal Merger Order.
  • Representation of the National Football League in a program carriage hearing before the Federal Communications Commission concerning distribution of the NFL Network (NFL Enterprises LLC v. Comcast Cable Communications LLC).

Pro Bono

  • Advise a leading international anti-corruption organization on newsgathering and prepublication review issues.
  • Represent plaintiffs in putative class action regarding police department’s stop, question and frisk policies and procedures, which violate the Fourth Amendment and the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment.
