Matthew Dunn's practice focuses on white collar defense and litigation, with a particular emphasis on representing healthcare companies. He has extensive experience representing companies in federal and state criminal and civil investigations by the Department of Justice, Congress, and other enforcement agencies. His complementary litigation practice focuses on defending companies in government-facing litigation, such as cases arising under the False Claims Act and state consumer fraud laws, and follow-on litigation arising from government investigations. Mr. Dunn received his law degree from Columbia Law School, his master of science degree from Troy University, and his undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University.

Prior to becoming an attorney, Mr. Dunn was a captain in the United States Air Force.

Pharmaceutical Investigations

  • Counsel to a Fortune 500 company in the healthcare industry in an investigation by the Department of Justice concerning alleged violations of the False Claims Act due to discounting practices.
  • Counsel to two of the largest pharmaceutical manufacturers in the world in Department of Justice investigations relating to alleged off-label promotion.
  • Counsel to a Fortune 500 company in False Claims Act litigation relating to allegedly inadequate regulatory disclosures.
  • Counsel to a Fortune 25 company in False Claims Act litigation relating to the alleged submission of inaccurate claims information to the government.
  • Counsel to a pharmaceutical company in a Department of Justice investigation relating to alleged kickbacks.
  • Represented a pharmaceutical company in a Congressional inquiry concerning compound drugs and pricing issues.

Civil Litigation   

  • Counsel to a major pharmaceutical manufacturer in Average Wholesale Price litigation in various state courts, defending against claims under state consumer protection laws and false claims act statutes.
  • Counsel to an individual in federal court litigation arising out of the Ponzi scheme perpetrated by Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC.

Pro Bono

  • § 1983 action against the city of Covington, Louisiana and members of its police department on behalf of a plaintiff who was wrongfully convicted and exonerated by DNA evidence; obtained over $2 million in total recovery in settlement of this action and related state court litigation.
  • § 1983 action against police and prosecutors in Washington Parish, Louisiana arising out of wrongful conviction and Brady violations.
  • Counsel to a minor in asylum proceedings.
  • Successfully represented a veteran in pursuing disability-based compensation.
