PALO ALTO/NEW YORK—John Fisher and Tomas Rua have joined Covington as partners in the firm’s Mergers & Acquisitions Practice Group. John will co-lead the firm’s Technology Industry Group and be based in the firm’s Palo Alto office, and Tomas will be based in the firm’s New York office.
John and Tomas bring significant experience advising technology companies on a broad spectrum of complex domestic and cross-border M&A transactions. Their work spans numerous high-profile transactions, including public and private company acquisitions, carve‑outs, asset transactions, strategic minority investments and joint ventures, particularly those involving emerging technologies, artificial intelligence, digital platforms and data‑driven business models. Both also regularly counsel clients and boards on corporate governance and fiduciary duty issues.

John received his B.A. from Harvard University and J.D. from Columbia Law School. Tomas received his B.A. from Yale University, M.B.A. from the Yale School of Management, and J.D. from Yale Law School.
