WASHINGTON— Covington partner Matt DelNero has begun a term as President of the Federal Communications Bar Association, also known as FCBA-The Tech Bar. The approximately 1,700 members of the FCBA elected Matt to this role last year. Founded in 1936, the FCBA has long been the leading organization for lawyers and policy professionals in the fields of telecommunications, media, and technology.
In remarks upon receiving the ceremonial gavel of the FCBA President, Matt said, “I’m honored to be entrusted with the presidency of the FCBA—an organization that has had a profound impact on my own career.”
Matt co-chairs Covington’s Technology and Communication Regulation Practice Group, Entertainment and Media Industry Group, and Inclusion initiative. He routinely advises companies, investors, and other clients on high-stakes regulatory and policy matters before the Federal Communications Commission and other federal and state agencies. Chambers USA ranks Matt within “Band 1” in his field.
Prior to rejoining Covington in 2017, Matt served in senior leadership roles at the FCC. While at the FCC, he led a team of civil servants working to expand broadband access and affordability, including for low-income households and in rural and Tribal areas.
Matt’s election as President follows years of volunteer service to the FCBA. He served in numerous leadership positions, including President-Elect (2024-2025), Treasurer (2023-2024), Assistant Treasurer (2022-2023), Executive Committee Member (2019-2022), and Nominations Committee Member (2016-2018).
Matt is the third Covington partner to serve as FCBA President, following
Yaron Dori (2011-2012) and the late Jon Blake (1984-1985).
