Wade Ackerman and Alexa Hansen Named Daily Journal Top Health Care Lawyers

LOS ANGELES / SAN FRANCISCO—The Daily Journal has named Wade Ackerman and Alexa Hansen to its 2023 Top Health Care Lawyers list, a recognition of the leading California lawyers who specialize in health care.

Wade is a partner in Covington’s Los Angeles office and advises clients on complex FDA issues that require coordinated legal, regulatory, and public policy strategies. Through his previous positions at the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee and FDA's Office of Chief Counsel, Wade provides unique insights to companies and trade associations regarding the evolving FDA regulatory landscape. He also serves as one of the leaders of Covington’s multidisciplinary Digital Health Initiative, which brings together the firm’s resources to address issues relating to the development and marketing of digital health technologies.

Based in Covington’s San Francisco office, Alexa is a partner and patent litigator with an emphasis on pharmaceutical and biological patents. In addition to her litigation work, she also provides patent analysis for product acquisitions and financial transactions. Prior to law school, she worked as a medicinal chemist at Merck & Co. designing small molecule drugs and as a result, is named as an inventor on three patents.
