Four Covington Lawyers Named to Latinvex's “Top 100 Female Lawyers”

NEW YORK, May 23, 2019—Latinvex has selected Nicole Duclos, Mary Hernández, Ashley Sprague, and Veronica Yepez to its 2019 list of the “Top 100 Female Lawyers” at international law firms specializing in Latin America. Covington is among the top three law firms with the most women on the list.
Ms. Duclos represents clients in international commercial and investment arbitration, as well as transnational litigation. Her experience spans construction, energy, mining, agroindustry, and finance, among other industries. A client notes, she is “highly skilled and experienced, as well as deeply committed on providing an extraordinary class legal service, always available to the client.”
Ms. Hernández specializes in international investor-state and commercial arbitration, as well as FCPA investigations and compliance, focusing on clients with operations in Latin America. Her experience includes the representation of a major oil company in one of the largest international investment disputes in history; defending clients in government anti-corruption investigations; and conducting internal investigations and risk assessments. Ms. Hernandez was also seconded for two years to the international disputes group of ExxonMobil.
Ms. Sprague is an anti-corruption and white-collar defense lawyer, with particular expertise in Latin America after having spent more than a decade living in Venezuela. She advises clients on compliance with anti-corruption laws and also helps corporations and individuals navigate criminal investigations and regulatory enforcement matters in the United States and Latin America.
Ms. Yepez leads Covington’s Latin America investigations practice. She regularly conducts investigations into allegations of bribery, fraud, and other corporate misconduct. She is also experienced in white-collar criminal defense, complex litigation, and arbitration for large international companies, major financial institutions, and senior executives. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Yepez founded a leading compliance practice in Latin America, advising both multinational and regional clients on the development and implementation of anti-corruption compliance programs.
