Antitrust Team Receives ALM Litigator of the Week Shout-Out

A Covington antitrust team received a Litigator of the Week shout-out in AmLaw Litigation Daily for securing the dismissal of a lawsuit against the Canadian Hockey League (CHL), its three member leagues, 60 clubs, and the league’s president. The class action complaint alleged that the CHL conspired with the National Hockey League (NHL) to restrain the market for North American hockey players aged 16 to 20 in developmental leagues. U.S. District Judge Margaret Garnett in Manhattan dismissed the CHL defendants from the case for lack of personal jurisdiction, finding that none of the CHL clubs are based in New York and none of the CHL entities do business in the state.

The Covington team included Derek Ludwin, Ben Block, Lauren Willard Zehmer, Jackie Fitch, Brigid Larkin, and Ayana Lindsey.
