Covington Builds Restructuring Practice with Two Mintz Partner Hires
January 5, 2024, The Recorder
The Recorder covered Joseph Dunn and Abigail O’Brient’s arrivals as partners at Covington. The article discusses how their arrival bolsters the firm’s restructuring and bankruptcy practice and signals the continuing growth of the firm's Los Angeles office.
Dan Shallman, managing partner of the firm's L.A. office, stated in the article, "The pair will be based in the firm’s Los Angeles office, which has been on a “major growth trajectory” since Covington first opened the office in 2015."
“Demand over the last year was driven strongly by our litigation practice, our investigations practice,” continued Dan. “[Joe and Abby] will help us leverage additional litigation opportunities that arise out of clients dealing with bankruptcies, particularly on the creditor side, and so we’re hopeful this is going to continue to help us build on that momentum,” Dan stated.
In reference to their adjacent asset recovery practice that assists clients seeking to enforce judgments and arbitration awards in the U.S. and internationally, Joe stated, “That’s a real value add to give to litigation clients, but also to our litigation colleagues and helping them in their current matters and future matters, assets strategy."
