Life sciences law giant Covington & Burling LLP to open first Boston office

Covington's "long-anticipated entrance into the Boston market" was covered by Boston Business Journal in a piece highlighting the new office, Megan Gates' arrival, and the firm's focus on the life sciences industry.

Doug Gibson was quoted in the Business Journal, where he stated that Covington chose to expand now because it found "the right person in Megan to anchor that office."

"With Megan, along with the group of our senior lawyers relocating to Boston," Doug expressed, "we will have a differentiated offering in the market." Doug added that beyond the life science sector, the firm sees opportunities to serve Boston's tech, financial services, aerospace and defense companies.

The firm’s “world renowned expertise in life sciences, specifically in FDA regulatory licensing and collaborations area,” is what sets it apart, Megan. She added that her expertise as a capital markets and corporate lawyer, combined with the firm’s expertise in licensing, is what makes it “unmatched” and a “really compelling offering."

The Boston office plans to focus on serving clients within the state, especially within Boston, but “wouldn’t limit [themselves] to that should opportunities arise,” Megan expressed.
