We are pleased to share recently published content authored by our health care and life sciences colleagues from the Global Legal Insights Guide to Pharmaceutical Pricing & Reimbursement Laws and Regulations 2023.

This sixth edition of the Guide summarizes the rules and practices in 18 jurisdictions, including key global markets such as the USA, UK and Germany.

• Grant Castle continues to be the global contributing editor for the Guide. We are pleased to share his Preface to the publication, which provides an overview of important global trends.
• Our U.S. healthcare and market access experts, Rujul Desai, Anna Kraus and Elizabeth Brim authored a substantial chapter on the pricing and reimbursement landscape in the USA. This landscape is undergoing significant change, with recent federal legislation, the Prescription Drug Pricing Reform provisions of the Inflation Reduction Act, significantly altering the pricing regime under certain federal programs.
• The UK health system has experienced major cost pressures in recent years, leading to rapid, headline-making changes to an already complex and multi-layered framework. Grant Castle, Brian Kelly and Raj Gathani provide their insights in the Guide’s UK chapter.
• In the Republic of Ireland chapter to the Guide, Dublin-based colleagues, Marie Doyle-Rossi and Maree Gallagher share the latest developments in on-going reforms to the Irish pricing and reimbursement system. These reforms are designed to accelerate the reimbursement process for innovative products while at the same time controlling healthcare expenditure.
• Our EU colleagues have authored an Expert Analysis chapter on the progress and potential impact of the EU Health Technology Assessment Regulation (EU) 2021/2282. This is the first major attempt to co-ordinate the assessment of clinical value of new, innovative medicines at the EU level.
