    Lily Hines focuses on licensing, collaborations and other commercial transactions in which intellectual property, data and technology are central. She works with clients across industries, including automotive, energy, and fintech.

    Prior to law school, Lily earned an engineering degree in Operations Research from Princeton, which is an area of applied math that encompasses machine learning, probabilistic modeling and data science. Core to her approach to client service is her focus on understanding the technology driving the transaction. She enjoys collaborating across business, technical and legal teams.

    Lily is a member of the Automotive Women's Alliance Foundation and the Society of Women Engineers. She was recently appointed to the Steering Committee for the Sedona Conference Working Group on trade secrets, which includes more than 200 of the leading lawyers, judges and academics in this field. Lily was recognized for intellectual property law in Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch for 2026.

    Automotive/Transportation

    • Advised SK in its approximately $13 billion USD joint venture with Ford Motor Company to manufacture batteries for electric vehicles.
    • Represented United Airlines in a deal with SpaceX to bring Starlink’s in-flight internet connectivity to more than 1000 United aircraft. The deal is the industry's largest agreement of its kind to-date and will unlock game-changing customer experiences that no other major U.S. airline currently provides.
    • Advised various OEMs/tier suppliers on updates to template automotive supply agreements, including to account for new and emerging technologies.
    • Represented Amazon on its collaboration agreement with Stellantis (one of the largest automakers worldwide) to deliver software solutions for its new digital cabin platform announced in January 2022 at CESA.
    • Represented Amazon on development agreements related to in-vehicle and cloud automotive service offerings.
    • Advised major technology company on joint venture to develop and manufacture technology for connected vehicles.

    Energy, Financial Services, and Other Industries:

    • Represented Canadian public company Cameco Corporation in the purchase of a 49% interest, together with Australian-based Silex Systems Limited which purchased a 51% interest, in GE-Hitachi Global Laser Enrichment LLC (“GLE”) located in the U.S. from GE-Hitachi Nuclear Energy LLC. Cameco also obtained an option from Silex to acquire a majority interest of up to 75% ownership of GLE. GLE is developing a process which uses lasers to enrich uranium. The transaction has excellent potential to expand Cameco’s capabilities in the creation of nuclear fuel for reactors.
    • Provide transactional support and advice to financial services company on all manner of data licensing/data commercialization efforts.
    • Advised a range of pharmaceutical and technology companies in transactions develop and/or commercialize machine learning software, including software that is regulated as a medical device.
    • Advised the NHL on its 10-year global partnership with Sportradar to distribute NHL data and game footage to media companies and sportsbooks in the U.S. and abroad.
    • Represented Graham Holdings in its $235 million sale to Spotify of Megaphone, a podcast technology company.
    • Represented Stats Perform in an agreement to become the Women's Tennis Association's official data supplier and to power a new range of broadcast, second screen, and betting experiences.
    • Advised the Golden State Warriors in technology transactions.
