    Justin Howell is an associate in the firm’s Washington office, where he works on high-stakes litigation and insurance coverage matters.     • Obtained multi-million dollar settlement of disputed COVID-19 business interruption claim by private equity firm under specialized communicable disease coverage, successfully persuading insurers to pay multiple per-occurrence limits – and as a result, triple their initial payments – toward losses at the client's hotel properties.
    • Represented public utility pursuing coverage for legacy environmental liabilities under state and federal Superfund laws, including at month-long jury trial ending with verdict in client's favor.
    • Successfully represented major industrial supply firm in dispute concerning insurer's defense obligations under product liability policy, fending off insurer's efforts to terminate its obligations through premature settlement of underlying claims and securing millions in covered defense costs.
    • Represented a state in complex environmental litigation to recover natural resource damages arising from chemical contamination, leading to a landmark, nine-figure settlement.
    • Successfully represented large private equity firm in litigation concerning claims under property and pollution legal liability policies for catastrophic storm damage, securing coverage in excess of amounts initially claimed.
