He advises and represents parties in international arbitration proceedings under the ICSID, ICC, UNCITRAL, SCC, ICDR, and JAMS rules. Alex advises clients on public international law and investment issues related to the Russia-Ukraine conflict. He also represents clients in cross-border litigation proceedings as well as FCPA and corruption-related internal investigations.

- Counsel for Ukraine’s state-owned oil and gas company, Naftogaz of Ukraine, in an investment arbitration against the Russian Federation arising from Russia’s expropriation of Naftogaz’s assets in Crimea.
- Counsel for a Ukrainian investor in a bilateral investment treaty dispute related to the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
- Representation of two U.S. telecommunications companies in an investment treaty arbitration (ICSID) against Georgia, arising from Georgia’s imprisonment of the companies’ principal and extortion of millions of dollars in exchange for the principal’s release.
- Counsel for a major pharmaceutical company in a commercial arbitration under JAMS rules involving the alleged failure to devote commercially reasonable efforts to commercialize a prescription drug.
- Counsel for a major pharmaceutical company in a DOJ/SEC investigation concerning alleged violations of the FCPA.
