David Pinsky Honored at UJA FSU Signature Event

NEW YORK—The UJA FSU, a New York-based Jewish philanthropy and community organization for those with roots in the former Soviet Union, honored Covington International Arbitration partner and Management Committee member Dave Pinsky at its Signature Event on June 3. Dave was honored alongside the singer-songwriter, Regina Spektor, who, like Dave, emigrated to the United States from the former Soviet Union when she was young.

Dave was recognized by UJA FSU as a stalwart defender of justice and human rights, particularly for his work relating to the war in Ukraine. Dave led a team that recently won a $5-billion award for Ukraine’s state-owned oil and gas company, Naftogaz, in an investment arbitration against Russia in response to the Kremlin’s unlawful expropriation of Naftogaz’s assets in Crimea. Dave has also advised multiple clients in connection with their exits from Russia following the Kremlin’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

Dave has additionally represented Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty in response to the Kremlin’s efforts to silence independent media in Russia. He regularly works pro bono for foreign journalists and other media professionals who seek political asylum in the United States.
