Kurt Calia and
Alexa Hansen to its 2023 Top Intellectual Property Lawyers list, a recognition of the leading California lawyers who specialize in intellectual property law.
Kurt is a partner in Covington’s Palo Alto office who tries complex intellectual property and other civil litigation matters in courts and tribunals throughout the country, and counsels clients in intellectual property matters. His practice encompasses the firm's life sciences and technology clients, ranging from pharmaceutical chemistry, biotechnology, and biomedical devices, to mechanical devices, business methods, microprocessors, and software. This is his fourth consecutive year being named one of the
Daily Journal’s Top Intellectual Property Lawyers.
Based in Covington’s San Francisco office, Alexa is a partner and patent litigator with an emphasis on pharmaceutical and biological patents. In addition to her litigation work, she also provides patent analysis for product acquisitions and financial transactions. Prior to law school, she worked as a medicinal chemist at Merck & Co. designing small molecule drugs and as a result, is named as an inventor on three patents. In addition to being recognized as a Top Intellectual Property Lawyer, Alexa was recognized in 2022 by the
Daily Journal as a Top Health Care Lawyer and by
