NEW YORK—Covington advised private equity fund EMX Capital in the successful completion of an innovative general partner (GP)-led secondary fund restructuring. The deal is the first of its kind in Mexico, and among the first in Latin America, and highlights the growth in sophistication of private equity investments in the region.

Through the transaction, EMX Capital secured commitments from renowned private investors in Mexico, the United States, and Europe, including leading firms in the global secondary market, thus successfully offering liquidity to investors who opted to cash out.

Based in Mexico City, EMX Capital is a spin-off from The Carlyle Group and specializes in controlling-stake growth investments through buyouts and growth equity.
