WASHINGTON—The National Law Journal has named Covington one of three Washington, D.C. Litigation Departments of the Year. The firm was also named Product Liability/Mass Torts Department of the Year.
With the largest litigation practice in Washington, Covington won a “string of victories” that “solidified the firm’s reputation as an inside-the-Beltway litigation powerhouse.” John Hall, chair of Covington’s global Litigation Practice, credits the firm’s “high-energy, diverse talent in their 30s and 40s,” as well as the “ability to staff litigation with multidisciplinary teams leveraging the firm’s regulatory and government expertise” as keys to the firm’s success.
In its feature about the firm’s Product Liability Practice, The National Law Journal observes that the group’s three co-chairs, Mike Imbroscio, Phyllis Jones, and Paul Schmidt, “bring separate strengths to make a formidable defense.” Danielle Diviaio, director and senior counsel for Boehringer Ingelheim adds, “Paul Schmidt really knows how to package a case with over a decade of science for a lay jury. Imbroscio thinks outside the box, and Jones is precise. You would think she has that background—practicing medicine.” Mr. Imbroscio believes the firm’s “young, dynamic, diverse team; top-flight trial capabilities; and having a knack for crafting complex facts into understandable stories” are qualities that distinguish the practice.
