Latinvex Names Four Covington Partners Among "Top 100 Lawyers"

NEW YORK—Latinvex has named Covington partners Nicole Duclos, Rubén Kraiem, Miguel López Forastier, and Gabriel Mesa among “Latin America’s Top 100 Lawyers” in 2019.
Ms. Duclos represents clients in international commercial and investment arbitration, as well as transnational litigation. Clients interviewed by Latinvex praised Ms. Duclos’ extensive arbitration experience, noting that she is “ready to provide the best advice always bearing in mind our business needs,” and “deeply committed to providing an extraordinary class legal service.” This is the third year in which Ms. Duclos has been named to the list.
Mr. Kraiem advises clients with business interests in Latin America, as well as companies based in Latin America who are engaged in cross-border acquisitions or financings. Mr. Kraiem has been involved in many significant life sciences, banking and insurance-related acquisitions and joint ventures in Latin America, as well as transactions in industries as diverse as telecommunications, media, real estate development, healthcare, and consumer products. This is the first year Mr. Kraiem has been named to the list.
Mr. López Forastier’s practice focuses on international arbitration and litigation. He has successfully represented a wide range of clients, including those in the oil and gas, mining, communications, financial services, and food industries in both investor-State and commercial arbitrations. Both civil-law and common-law trained, Mr. López Forastier handles contentious work in English, Spanish, and Portuguese. This is the first year Mr. López Forastier has been named to the list.
Mr. Mesa counsels corporations in joint ventures, private mergers and acquisitions, financings, and restructurings in Latin America and other emerging markets, as well as in the United States. His work spans venture capital and private equity investments, strategic acquisitions, privatizations and oil and gas ventures. This is the sixth consecutive year that Mr. Mesa has been named to the list.
