Dispatch From JPM: Fewer Health Deals Don’t Dampen Mood

Megan Gates commentary appeared in a Law360 article about the atmosphere at the JP Morgan healthcare conference. JPM is an annual four-day, invite-only conference that draws thousands of attendees to San Francisco. For many attendees, the event acts akin to a barometer for the healthcare space.

“I feel like there’s a greater sense of optimism this year than there was last year,” Megan said.

While Megan said that she was surprised that a flurry of news-making deal announcements—a typical feature of the event—have so far not materialized, that doesn’t seem to be affecting a mood many hope will translate to an active year for transactions.

“It’s like an infectious sort of thing,” Megan said. “I think the optimism kind of breeds more optimism.”
