Justice Department Cyber Fraud Push Yields Wave of Settlements

Moriah Daugherty commentary was included in a Bloomberg Law article highlighting the expansion of settlements resulting from the U.S. Department of Justice’s (DOJ) efforts to encourage whistleblowers to bring cybersecurity fraud claims against U.S. contractors. Moriah discusses how DOJ succeeded in publicizing the initiative to whistleblower attorneys.

Moriah noted that whistleblower attorneys are “on the speaking circuit, seeking publicity in order to attract would-be relators.” They “have always been good at ‘following the money,’ and they apparently think that cyber cases may lead to a pot of gold,” she added.
