Companies Hold Fire On Children’s Data Readjustment

Lindsey Tonsager’s commentary was included in a LexologyPRO article discussing companies’ approaches to data best practices for children and that many are waiting and preparing for more U.S. states to enact their own data privacy protections for minors as a guide to how they derive their own privacy scheme.

“The state laws specific to minors are all over the map,” Lindsey said. “For example, in California, the age signal provisions were just vetoed but in New York we have an attorney general that is pursuing a rulemaking that [offers] age signals. It’s hard to know at this point where things will shake out because there’s not the same alignment across all of the different state laws in the child space,” she added.
