Pro Bono Trial Team Named ALM Litigator of the Week Runners-Up

AmLaw Litigation Daily named a Covington pro bono trial team led by Kevin Collins, Jonah Panikar, and Daniel Lee as “Litigator of the Week” runners-up for securing a not-guilty verdict for client Larry David Smith stemming from the 1971 shooting death of Deputy Sheriff James Hall. The team successfully argued that Smith, who was a homeless teenager in the area at the time of the killing, and had been questioned by police back in 1973, made a false confession during a four-hour interrogation in 2021.
