Trump and Special Counsel Signal Early Strategies for Criminal Case

Rob Kelner’s commentary was featured in a Wall Street Journal article about the criminal investigation into former President Trump over his handling of classified documents.

Rob said, “One of the big challenges Jack Smith faces is persuading every one of those 12 jurors that it could be a criminal offense for Trump to share documents that, a couple of years before, when he was president, he would have been free to share.”

Rob also added that Trump’s defense team could seek to underscore that, while the sharing of national-defense information was improper, the former president didn’t provide it to a foreign national, “much less with hostile actors.”
