Attys Say Wash. Justices Opened Door For Virus Coverage

Rani Gupta was quoted by Law360 regarding a possible roadmap for policyholders arguing that the presence of COVID-19 itself could trigger coverage for physical loss.

"Litigation likely will proceed as to a smaller subset of cases alleging that the virus triggers coverage and concerning insurance policies that don't contain the same virus exclusion," Rani said, agreeing that the decision leaves the door open for policyholders.
