GCs: Big Law ESG Practices Must 'Walk the Walk'

Kevin Poloncarz is quoted in the American Lawyer regarding how outside counsel advising in-house counsel and clients on ESG matters are being asked to also engage in ESG efforts, whether that is through diversity and inclusion efforts, environmental reporting, or reducing their carbon footprints. Kevin says clients are requesting scope reports from the firm—an accounting of an organization’s direct and indirect greenhouse gas emissions tied to things such as office space, business travel and commuting. “We’ve received [ESG] requests from clients several months ago and have been participating with their procurement team. Just like diversity and inclusion, our clients are going to ask for information from us and measure our success,” he adds.
