Transition period unlikely to threaten City of London

March 7, 2018, Global Risk Regulator

Lord Francis Maude is quoted in a Global Risk Regulator article regarding the proposed transition period after the UK leaves the EU. "I’m not worried about the transition period if it is for a couple of years,” says Maude. “Typically, when new regulation is introduced, there is at least a two-year implementation period. It is possible some new regulation is introduced just after Brexit day and will come into effect before the end of the transition period, but it is highly unlikely.”
