Senate defense policy bill would block GAO protests for task orders

May 23, 2016, Inside Defense

Jay Carey is quoted in an Inside Defense article regarding the defense policy bill approved by the Senate Armed Services Committee which would block GAO protests for task orders. According to Carey, if the bill is passed, it would mean that there is "no effective oversight of task order awards -- which are now a huge part of the procurement process." He continues, "Removing oversight from such a large universe of procurements will mean that those procurements will be less carefully run, which raises concerns not only about fairness to bidders, but also concerns about whether the government is really getting the best result and the best value out of the competition.”
