During the Policy Forum with TechFreedom, Laura Kim, Chair of Covington’s Advertising and Consumer Protection Investigations Practice Group, participated in a program entitled “Can the FTC and DOJ Police Political Bias & Content Moderation?” This program explored how competition and consumer protection laws apply to social media companies. The agenda covered First Amendment limits, consumer protection claims, competition law analysis, and potential remedies. With the deadline for public comments to the Federal Trade Commission rapidly approaching, this program featured a timely look at the legal challenges involved in reconciling these issues within constitutional boundaries.
