On October 29, Covington's DC office hosted a reception marking the launch of an endowment fund for the Neighborhood Legal Services Program (NLSP) in memory of Tom Williamson. Over 80 attendees gathered to hear a series of luminaries speak about Tom's work as a “quiet warrior for justice" throughout his career, including as a rotation associate and longtime board member at NLSP.
The speakers included Tom's wife Shelley, Covington partners Eric Holder, Tim Hester, and Lindsay Burke, Willie Cook, who served as Executive Director of NLSP during Tom's rotation, and Karen Newton Cole, the current Executive Director of NLSP. All described Tom's extraordinary commitment to pro bono service and to Covington's partnership with NLSP.
The DC Bar highlighted Covington and Neighborhood Legal Services Program's launch of the Tom Williamson Endowment Fund which honors the former D.C. Bar president’s pro bono legacy. The fund is dedicated to supporting NLSP in its mission to provide free legal services to low-income individuals and families in the District of Columbia.
