FDA Issues Dietary Fiber Guidance and Scientific Review of 26 Fibers

On November 22, FDA issued two long-anticipated dietary fiber documents that inform its May 2016 revisions to the nutrition information required to appear on food labels: the Draft Guidance for Industry: Scientific Evaluation of the Evidence on the Beneficial Physiological Effects of Isolated or Synthetic Non-digestible Carbohydrates Submitted as a Citizen Petition (21 CFR 10.30) (Draft Guidance) and the Science Review of Isolated and Synthetic Non-Digestible Carbohydrates (Science Review).
