Alexandra J. Widas

Alexandra Widas is a litigator in the Washington, DC office, where she represents clients in all phases of complex civil litigation before both trial and appellate courts. She has particular expertise in government-facing litigation, including with constitutional claims and challenges to agency regulations and orders under the Administrative Procedure Act (APA).

Alexandra draws upon her previous experience at the Department of Justice, where she litigated constitutional, statutory, and administrative law cases of national significance, to develop successful litigation strategies and arguments. She also has significant experience defending against novel uses of state consumer protection laws by State Attorneys General and challenging unconstitutional state action. Alexandra has expertise in all stages of litigation, including writing motions, presenting oral argument, conducting fact and expert discovery, and participating in trials and appeals.

Alexandra’s active pro bono practice focuses on civil and reproductive rights. Previously, she clerked for Judge William J. Kayatta, Jr., on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit and Judge Paul G. Gardephe on the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. Prior to attending law school, Alexandra worked with the U.S. Department of Defense on policies and negotiations related to governance and development in Afghanistan.
