Dia Omasonte

Dia Omasonte is the west coast pro bono attorney and part of the team that directs Covington’s pro bono program. She develops and maintains close relationships with legal services organizations that refer matters to the firm to identify pro bono opportunities that are responsive to the legal needs of underserved communities.

Dia brings several years of experience representing individuals who are unable to afford paid counsel. She represented survivors of domestic violence in their family law and immigration cases for six years at the bay area’s largest civil legal aid provider, Bay Area Legal Aid. Dia litigated on behalf of clients at trials and hearings for custody, visitation, parentage, restraining orders, and other family law matters. She obtained immigration relief through VAWA, U-visa, and adjustment of status for dozens of clients and their children. Before that, Dia defended clients in her role as an assistant public defender in western Pennsylvania.
