    Ramon Luque is special counsel in Covington’s International Arbitration Practice Group. Ramon represents and counsels clients in a wide range of complex and international commercial and investor-state matters. He draws on his experience from both ad hoc proceedings, and arbitrations governed by ICC, LCIA, DIFC-LCIA, and ICSID rules, among others, as well as experience in substantial English litigation matters. He is particularly experienced in advising clients in the energy sector in relation to disputes involving oil and gas, LNG, and power assets, and also has significant experience advising clients in a number of other sectors.

    • Representing the owner of a hydroelectric power plant in East Africa in an UNCITRAL arbitration concerning sums owed under a power purchase agreement
    • Representing the owner of a gas-to-electricity project in East Africa in a London-seated ICC arbitration under the terms of an operation and maintenance contract
    • Representing Ukraine’s state-owned oil and gas company, Naftogaz, in an investment treaty arbitration (UNCITRAL) against the Russian Federation arising from Russia’s expropriation of Naftogaz’s assets in Crimea.
    • Advising a European gas buyer in price review negotiations against a European seller under the terms of a long-term gas supply contract governed by Swiss law
    • Advising a European gas buyer in price review negotiations and cargo disputes against a West African seller under the terms of multiple long-term LNG supply contacts
    • Advising a major pharmaceutical company in a dispute concerning the supply of COVID-19 vaccines (ICC Rules)
    • Representing the employer in a dispute with its EPC contractor in relation to the construction of an LNG Terminal in the Middle East (ICC Rules)
    • Representing a major pharmaceutical company in a London-seated LCIA arbitration in relation to obligations under a pharmaceutical License and Supply Agreement governed by English law.
    • Representing a major pharmaceutical company in a Paris-seated ICC arbitration in relation to obligations under a Swiss-law governed pharmaceutical Licensing and Development Agreement.
    • Representing a fund manager in claim under a financing agreement in the English Commercial Court.
    • Representing a global franchise in a claim under a franchising agreement in the English High Court.
    • Representing a High Net Worth individual in a real estate investment dispute in the English High Court.
