Jad Khazem is a litigator who focuses on representing corporate policyholders in a wide range of industries in complex commercial coverage disputes. Mr. Khazem has helped policyholders recover approximately $500 million to date. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Khazem clerked for Judge Henry F. Floyd on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.

  • Successfully represented owner of a major U.S. Virgin Islands resort in a property damage / business interruption lawsuit, one of the largest arising out of Hurricanes Irma and Maria. Helped achieve a highly successful near-$250 million settlement shortly before trial after prevailing on key forum battles and exposing insurer-side spoliation.
  • Successfully represented owner of a large Puerto Rican luxury hotel in a first-party coverage lawsuit in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria. Helped achieve a substantial settlement after prevailing on key summary judgment and insurer bad faith rulings.
  • Represented a leading car rental company in successfully defending against an insurer's equitable indemnity lawsuit in Arizona federal court and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
  • Representing the National Football League in insurance coverage litigation concerning concussion-related claims.
  • Representing global glass manufacturer in an insurance coverage and fraud lawsuit in the Southern District of New York, in connection with a tornado property damage / business interruption claim.

Pro Bono

  • Represented a policyholder advocacy group in Arizona federal court and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, in a successful bid to unseal a pro-policyholder judicial ruling.
  • Represented veterans in multiple successful disability benefits appeals before the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims and the Board of Veterans’ Appeals.
  • Secured an Immigration Court order releasing client from immigration custody on the lowest-possible bond.
