John J. DeBoy

We are very sad to share that our partner John DeBoy passed away on June 22, 2026. A graduate of the University of Notre Dame, John earned an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago’s Booth School and spent a decade as a management consultant at Deloitte before receiving his law degree from Georgetown and working at the firm as a summer associate. After a clerkship with Judge Messitte on the Maryland federal district court, John rejoined the firm in 2011 and during his career established himself as a gifted litigator, focusing on product liability and mass tort defense. John developed a knack for presenting complex technical and scientific evidence in ways that judges and juries could readily understand. He maintained an active pro bono caseload, representing prisoners in parole hearings and criminal defendants in capital and other cases.

John’s skill as a lawyer was exceeded only by his kindness, compassion, and sense of humor. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
