BOSTON— Megan Gates, a partner in Covington’s Boston office, was named as Pine Street Inn’s new chair of its board of directors. A member of Pine Street Inn’s board of directors since 2012, Megan has supported the organization for nearly two decades as a donor, volunteer, and board leader. As board chair, she will work closely with fellow board members and Pine Street’s leadership team to advance the organization’s mission and expand the innovative housing, shelter, and support services that help individuals experiencing homelessness rebuild their lives.
Megan takes over as board chair as Pine Street continues to increase the number of housing units with support services it operates in Boston. Today, Pine Street provides services to 1,200 tenants in 40 locations in Boston and Brookline, including recently opened residences in Back Bay, Jamaica Plain and Dorchester. Pine Street staff work closely with tenants on basic life skills, and connect them with medical and behavioral health care, job training, and jobs.
Megan recently completed a term as president of the Boston Bar Foundation, where she helped to oversee the granting of over $2 million to civil legal aid organizations in and around the city of Boston.
For more than 30 years, Megan has advised publicly traded and late-stage private companies, particularly in the life sciences sector, on capital-raising transactions, SEC reporting and compliance, corporate governance matters, and strategic mergers and acquisitions. Her extensive experience counseling boards of directors, executive leadership teams, and emerging growth companies has made her a trusted advisor on complex corporate and regulatory matters.
